Le Malade Imaginaire (The Imaginary Invalid)

Na Lagaat Theatre

Written by Molière
Directed by Yair Shapira

Molière’s beloved classic comedy returns in a new and surprising adaptation in sign language! Argan, a tireless hypochondriac, is convinced that he suffers from every possible illness, and that his days are numbered. Despite showing no signs of sickness, he lives his life surrounded by enemas, endless checkups, prescriptions, and blind obedience to doctors. When Argan decides to marry off his daughter to a doctor – not out of love, but so he has a free private doctor at hand – his family’s patience runs out. The rebellion that erupts shakes his sheltered and ridiculous world, and leads him to ask himself: in his desperate attempt not to die, has he forgotten how to live? A lively comedy packed with tricks and unforgettable characters – about the health of the body, the heart, and everything in between.
