A Glass Wall

Beit Lessin Theatre

Dramatic comedy

Play by Oren Jacobi (Yaakobi)
Directed by Eldar Gohar Groisman

Is the suffering of the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors real, or is it the result of a collective “remembrance used as incitement ” forced upon them? Chaya Stern, a young Israeli dancer, lives in Berlin, where her Holocaust survivor grandfather was born. She builds her career there, but the price of freedom is a disconnection from her mother, Vicki, who lives by her father’s demand: “Our feet shall not step upon the land of the murderers.”

When Chaya’s grandfather dies, Vicki fulfills his last request to add his ashes to the “Mountain of Ashes,” where the remains of the rest of his family are scattered. However, the plan fails due to bureaucracy. Vicki is left helpless, and Chaya offers to help, hoping for a reconciliation.

But not all is as it seems. Rebellion runs through the generations, and for the first time Chaya and Vicki must decide their own future and the future of their relationship.
