Liminal

Performance art

Created by Alit Kreiz

Liminal is a space oscillating between the known and the unknown, a threshold where something within us changes shape, before acquiring a name or identity.

Four women from diverse artistic disciplines, each in a different decade of life, explore explore the liminal passages of their personal journeys: between freedom and holding back, beginnings and endings, vital impulse and profound suspension. Their individual paths intertwine with the local experience: living through years of relentless war, while looking for hope. A parallel narrative is told throughout their journeys, echoing Yves Klein’s ground-breaking work in the 1960s, which gave physical presence to silenced wartime catastrophe. This dialogue demands an astute look at what the collective memory continuously represses, confronting the physical imprint of destruction.

Liminal resists quick fixes, knowing that the urge to resolve often forces drastic choices. Instead, it invites a shared presence within suspension and uncertainty, so that something new can emerge.
