Marcel

Created by Jason Danino Holt and Meital Raz

Marcel is an adult puppet theatre musical that premiered at the Jerusalem Comedy Festival, and continues to perform at Habait Theatre. Marcel is a little boy, who has the most beautiful and colorful dreams imaginable. But no matter how hard he tries, his dreams never seem to come true.

And what about Jason and Meital? What became of their dreams? Is there still room for them in the endless loop of their schedules? Through Marcel’s story, they present the experiences that led them to their present stage: the glory of their twenties, failed romantic getaways, fantasies of happiness, roaring applause, true love, and the obsession with turning forty, all while remaining effortlessly photogenic.

Surrounded by dozens of puppets, they uncover the great truths that are always hidden in silly songs, the nearly impossible challenge of aging gracefully, the undeniable fact that Lana Del Rey is a pretty great singer, and the ever-present reality that there will always, always be more dishes in the sink.

Jason Danino Holt is an interdisciplinary artist recognized for his roles as a theatre creator, writer, visual artist, teacher, and artistic director.
